EMAI Pre-Conference Training


This year, the Emergency Management Alliance of Indiana will be hosting 2 pre-conference training courses. The courses are Hazardous Weather and Flooding Preparedness (G271) and Hazardous Materials Awareness (HMA).

It is NOT required that you attend or pay for the conference to attend these courses.

You must have an Acadis account to register (click here if you need an account). For the Hazardous Weather and Flooding Preparedness course, search for “20241014” in Acadis. (As of 8/21/24, there is currently a wait list for this course). For the Hazardous Materials Awareness (HMA) course, search for “HMA220819” in Acadis.

Course Description

This course provides training for local and state emergency managers who respond to hazardous weather events, while promoting partnership and coordination between the National Weather Service (NWS) and emergency managers. The goal of this course is to enhance emergency managers? ability to recognize potentially hazardous weather and flooding situations so they are equipped to plan appropriately and to coordinate effective responses.


Selection Criteria: The audience for the course will encompass primarily the following professional groups:
• Local emergency managers (i.e., county, city, parish, or other jurisdiction)
• State emergency management personnel
• Voluntary agency representatives
• Private sector emergency managers

Course Description and Syllabus for Hazardous Materials Awareness Course

Course Description

This course will give the students the knowledge to identify, isolate, and deny entry to an incident involving hazardous materials using reference materials such as the US Department of Transportation Emergency Response Guidebook (US DOT ERG)
