About EMAI

The Emergency Management Alliance of Indiana (EMAI) is a non-profit organization supporting and enhancing emergency management efforts throughout the state of Indiana. We facilitate that by:

  • Promoting active, on-going, and adequately funded emergency management programs at all levels of government and the private sector.

  • Building on the foundation of existing emergency management plans, systems, and capabilities to broaden their applicability to the full spectrum of emergencies, emphasizing implementation of emergency management measures that are known to be effective.

  • Fostering local, state, federal governmental, and private sector partnerships to achieve common goals.

  • Promoting integration of emergency management planning into local and state policy-making and operational systems.

  • Assisting in the development of a coordinated response network through the combined efforts of government agencies, non-profits, and the private sector.

EMAI is made up of dedicated and knowledgeable emergency managers who share the goal of building a resilient Indiana and protecting life and property through preparedness and mitigation practices. We welcome both veteran and new emergency managers from Indiana to join the growing network of public safety professionals that the EMAI has to offer.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to advance the profession of emergency management in Indiana by promoting and implementing the principles of emergency management; assist and prepare our members through the implementation of emergency management functions, in all phases of emergency management; advance the emergency management profession through greater awareness and understanding of the value, need, and importance of emergency management professionals; and elevate the professionalism of members of the emergency management field.

The vision of EMAI is to become a wide-spread network of emergency management professionals and an organization that cultivates and fosters a collaborative and supportive professional environment, while also preparing, promoting, informing, serving, and rewarding our members and customers.
